A free and simplified approach to ITIL Service Management
ITIL is a best practice approach to IT Service Management widely recognized as
the international standard. Manage ITIL is a site dedicated to providing
free information and guidance to IT Service providors interested in learning,
adopting, expanding and promoting the ITIL framework.
What is on this site?
Manage ITIL contains simple explanations of the practices that collectively
make up the ITIL Service Management Lifecycle, providing access to free
explanations and descriptions of the basic steps for planning and implementing
an ITIL approach and answers to faq’s.
What is the goal?
Our goal is to enable users to obtain the basic knowledge needed to understand and implement the ITIL methodology
in a free and simple manner by providing basic ITIL building blocks that an organisation can use to realize benefits
and reduce the cost of outside resource.
What will this site not do?
Our site is not intended to replace training or reading of ITIL materials. If you have the means and capacity
then get the books, get trained and get certified.
ITIL Core Capabilities
The introduction of version 3 of ITIL expanded the scope of ITIL enormously.
Manage ITIL has focused on what it considers the ‘core capabilities’ of ITIL
and dedicates less time to peripheral topics. For example, the site will
present an overview of Service Strategy but in no way will attempt to
teach strategy or any other general business concept.
Explanations of key ITIL concepts such as Incident, Problem and Change
and how they compose and interact within the ITIL Lifecycle will be
the primary objective of the site.
